In 1986, Luke Sklar decided he needed a change. He set out on his own with the goal of creating a unique organization. The business principle was built on providing unbiased fact based information to marketers to help drive better decision making. The organization focused on attracting great people and providing them with an environment to thrive in.
The company hit the ground running with HJ Heinz as its first client (Heinz remains in the Sklar Wilton fold 25 years later). The following 4 years saw incredible growth in the company’s client list and business responsibilities.
In 1992, Charlie Wilton – who had started his career at General Foods with Luke – joined the team and Sklar Wilton + Associates (SW+A) was officially born. From the outset of their partnership, Luke and Charlie recognized that building an outstanding team with unparalleled marketing knowledge and passion was the key to success. The Partner additions that have been made to SW+A over the years are evidence of this belief. Jennifer Smith became the company’s third partner in 2002 after a 12 year career at Warner Lambert where she was Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Healthcare division. After 6 years with SW+A, Sarah Liverance became the fourth partner in 2006. Prior to joining SW+A, Sarah was in brand marketing with Kraft General Foods.
Twenty five years since it all began, great people, amazing clients and living SW+A’s founding beliefs continue to make the company an exciting and special place to work.
